About

Therapy changed my life.

Beginning a career as a therapist was a personal mission for me. I already had a job working in the tech world. As I realized my need to resolve my personal history with unhealthy relationships, food and weight issues, and the results of my childhood in a dysfunctional family, I sought therapy.

And guess what? It changed my life. And it can change yours, too.

Once I gained a better sense of who I am and what is important to me, I realized that being in IT was my family’s idea for me, not my own. I learned that I’m in charge of my own life and responsible for doing what is right for me.

My experiences were my best teacher.

My current work with clients to help them overcome various forms of trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and other issues is because I learned from the inside out.

Sometimes, a family looks good on the outside, so you don’t realize that it’s hurting you until you behave in ways that make life more challenging.

Hell, I didn’t even know life was not supposed to be hard! I’ve spent the rest of my life sorting it all out and finding ways to live that were never part of my experience. It took some time, and it was time well spent.

I even have clients now who tell me they are “glad they got their depression” because if not for that, they would never have learned a different way to live or found out so much about themselves. That’s exactly how I have felt.

Change takes time.

Change in one’s life doesn’t happen overnight. Changes come when you are ready. We work at your pace – I provide compassionate and collaborative care with you as an individual.

I believe that our mind and body are one system. We can’t work on one without affecting change in the other. I work carefully with you to notice these effects and make the best use of our time together.

ABOUT ME

When I am not seeing clients, I love to read, mostly fiction. And I am a sucker for a good day at the beach. Southern California is full of lovely beaches. And going to the beach in the winter to watch the waves and smell the air is one of my favorite things to do.

Some of the tools I use include EMDR, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Somatic Experiencing, and Psychodynamic Methods. The type of treatment used depends on the individual and the issue challenging them.

My Master’s Degree is in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University. Before that, I received a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics Education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

I belong to the following Professional Organizations:
Valley Federation of Eating Disorder Professionals, Director of Technology and Past President
California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists
San Fernando Valley – CAMFT Chapter

My California License is No. LMFT43669.
